Advent started, had you noticed? This pastor did – it’s one of the “short” years, in which the first Sunday of Advent begins on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. Whew!
Fortunately, I am done with Christmas knitting – all the gifts are knit that have to be knit, and now it is time for me-knitting. What did I start with – socks! Oh, and finished them too. This is my season to join the Knitmore Girls Grinch-a-long- where you do stuff you want for the holidays instead of madly knitting gifts up through Christmas Eve. Want to join the Grinch-a-long? Go to this thread on Ravelry.
The yarn is a discontinued Regia self-striping colorway by Kaffe Fassett that I got on sale from the Simply Socks Yarn Co. The pattern is a free one on Ravelry – Circle Socks by Anne Campbell. It features a slip-stitch pattern rather akin to the infamous dishcloth pattern, so apparently I am in a bit of a rut knittingwise. I switched up some of the pattern – did my usual toe-up construction, keeping the pattern’s eye of partridge heel, and then knitting the leg pattern bottom up.
And I have to say that I am really excited about the next sweater I am knitting – another Hitofude for me in Madelinetosh tosh merino light – I managed to score 4 skeins in the same colorway while stopping at the yarn store after a short work retreat right before Thanksgiving. This yarn glows! And I got gauge on my first swatch, so we are good to go for the sweater making now.
